Trinity Academy is committed to academic rigour and excellence. We motivate our pupils to aim for the stars, encourage them at every step of their journey through the academy and re-motivate them if they begin to flag. Our curriculum is designed to ensure a child’s natural appetite for learning can take wing.

Up until the age of 16, all pupils study a broad, academic and creative curriculum that allows them to keep their options open to go on to study the A level subjects that will best position them to obtain a good university place.

Every KS3 pupil studies Maths, English, Science, Spanish, Geography, History, Religious Education & Philosophy, Art & Design, Music, Computer Science, Food & Nutrition and PE. French and Latin are already offered as extended-day enrichment activities .

We believe that a full, common, academic curriculum up to age-16 is an educational entitlement for all. No pupil should be written-off as unacademic.

Consequently, we aim to prepare all pupils for the full range of the EBacc suite of subjects at GCSE. Those subject disciplines represent a common cultural inheritance to which all children have a claim and a right. For pupils who will not be progressing to universities, the experience of a good quality academic education from 11-16, usually encompassing at least eight GCSEs, will stand them in good stead for pursuing vocational studies, finding apprenticeship opportunities and jobs.

Trinity’s curriculum extends well beyond the confines of the National Curriculum, broadening and deepening pupils’ knowledge and cultural literacy.

It has been designed in the light of recent research in the fields of neuroscience and pedagogy that emphasizes the crucial importance of knowledge and rich subject content in laying the foundations for deep understanding and critical thinking.

Tests, quizzes and deliberative practice play a large part in our pupils’ learning. Great importance is given to reading and each day everyone in the school – pupils and staff – have a Drop Everything & Read period. Our co-curricular enrichment programme aims to ensure that Trinity’s pupils accumulate a tremendous breadth of cultural reference through a variety of personal experiences.

Provision for the moral development of all our pupils is built-in right across the curriculum and underpinned by a focussed Values strand that prepares students for life in modern Britain and helps foster  Wisdom, Courage, Fairness and Self-Discipline.
